Polish Enterprise Fund VIII will acquire 80% of Snap Outdoor Poland
Polish Enterprise Fund VIII, a private equity fund managed by Enterprise Investors (EI), will acquire 80% of Snap Outdoor - a distributor of mountain and climbing equipment and the owner of 8a.pl - an e-commerce platform dedicated to active tourism and mountain sports, the Fund said. The transaction, the value of which has not been disclosed, requires the consent of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection.
Elżbieta and Piotr Czmochowie, the founders of the company, will remain among the shareholders and start cooperation with the EI team, the aim of which will be the further dynamic development of the company, said.
"We are convinced that the Snap Outdoor business model can be successfully replicated in other countries in the region, which often lack a leader in this market niche. Thanks to experience in the specialized online retail sector and excellent logistics, the company can also become a platform for entry in other niche e-commerce segments," said the partner at EI, who is responsible for investments in the retail area, incl. for Intersport ISI and Snap Outdoor, Michał Kędzi.
In 2020, Snap Outdoor's revenues amounted to over PLN 72 million, while this year it will exceed PLN 100 million.
Enterprise Investors is one of the largest private equity firms in Central and Eastern Europe. It has been operating since 1990 and established nine funds with a total capital exceeding EUR 2.5 billion. These funds have invested EUR 2 billion in 147 companies operating in various sectors of the economy. These funds exited 135 companies with gross proceeds of EUR 4.2 billion.
