Czech Ministry will decide if a third dose of vaccination is needed

The Czech Ministry of Health wants to decide by the end of August whether it will be necessary to give some people a third booster dose of vaccination. Minister Adam Vojtěch (for YES) therefore asked the experts to draw up an opinion, he informed about it yesterday on twitter. "I asked the Clinical Group, the Czech Vaccinological Society and the State Institute for Drug Control for an expert opinion on the administration of the third dose of vaccination," the minister wrote. According to him, the MeSES expert group around the epidemiologist Petr Smejkal will also be involved in the solution. "We have to decide on it by the end of August," Vojtech added. According to Tuesday's statement from the Vaccinological Society, seniors will probably need to be revaccinated with a third dose. According to preliminary results of the company's analysis, up to 60 percent of seniors have significantly lower or no antibodies six months after vaccination against covid-19. In the past, there has been talk that a booster dose could also be given to people with reduced immunity, such as people after transplants or the chronically ill. Seniors were among the priority groups when vaccinated against covid-19. Many of them received the vaccine earlier this year. So far, 10.47 million doses of the vaccine have been administered in the Czech Republic since December. More than 4.93 million people have completed vaccinations. Source: Twitter and CTK
