IT employees at the forefront of the most difficult jobs to recruit in Poland and EMEA
IT employees are at the forefront of the most difficult jobs to recruit, according to the report "Shortage of talents" prepared by ManpowerGroup. The phenomenon is not typical only for the Polish labor market, as companies located in other EMEA markets also complain about the shortage of IT specialists.
For years, IT experts have belonged to the group of professions with which companies had great challenges, and the pandemic aggravated this problem even more. This year's result is record-breaking, because in the more than ten-year history of the "Talent Shortage" report, this specialization has never been so high on the list of the most difficult positions to recruit, ManpowerGroup reported.
"The current shortage of specialists is primarily due to the acceleration of the implementation of projects, which as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic have been suspended or even completely canceled. Some plans related to the digitization of various areas of business activity gained momentum during the reign of the coronavirus, but still the greatest demand for qualified staff IT appeared at the beginning of 2021 and continues to this day," said Konrad Gandziarski, responsible for the development of the IT outsourcing area at Experis.
Currently, the competences most often sought by employers are related to software development in Java or .net. Due to the development of the cloud area, there is also a huge demand on the market for experts related to this type of solutions. Due to the huge demand for IT specialists, estimated in Poland at tens of thousands, they have access to a fairly wide range of projects and offers from various sectors of the economy. No wonder that in this situation the financial expectations of candidates in this area have increased compared to previous years.
The challenges of recruiting IT specialists are not only a problem of the Polish labor market. There are countries where these occupations rank first on the list of the most difficult to obtain. These are primarily European markets such as Austria, Greece, Germany, Norway and Sweden, as well as Asian markets such as Japan and Hong Kong. Globally, IT employees rank fourth in the ranking of positions where companies face the greatest challenges.
"Observing the market, we see entrepreneurs in Poland willing to hire employees from outside the country, because the pandemic situation allowed many organizations to develop new patterns of cooperation and accept the form of remote work. Of course, this possibility generated a new risk related to the possibility of providing services by Polish IT experts not only for employers in various locations in Poland, but also abroad, and they often offer more attractive financial conditions Apart from the time zone and communication in another language, the scope of services is similar, and projects are carried out according to the same methodologies, patterns and good practices. Experienced IT specialists who speak foreign languages can therefore look for employment on the global market, comparing the competitiveness of Polish and foreign companies. An additional incentive to work abroad is often tax issues. Migration of specialists is a big challenge for employers, because it It significantly increases the disproportion between the needs of the market and the resources available on it. The answer to this problem may be the employment of IT experts from Belarus and Ukraine, who are attracted by the Polish labor market with its stability and attractive employment conditions," summed up Gandziarski.
