Kaufland opened a new store in Bistrita
The German retailer Kaufland has opened a new store in Bistrita, in northen Romania. The new unit is its second in the city, as Kaufland opened its first 19,000 sqm store in 2006 after an investment of €7.5m.
In January, the retailer opened two stores in the Eastern Romania, in Sfantul Gheorge and in Medgidia. In 2011, Kaufland added 12 new stores to its network in Romania, where it is sometimes seen as the most expensive hypermarket operator in the country.
According to a statement posted on the company’s website, Kaufland employes over 7,600 people in Romania and offers around 15,000 food and non-food products in each store.
